Decide

Decide the way your articles say

Choose the rule for each item. Assembley counts the votes by weight as soon as voting closes, and the chair declares the result.

  • Simple majority

Motions, accounts and budgets, decided by a majority of the votes cast.

  • Qualified majority

Two thirds or unanimity, set on the item and frozen when the meeting goes live. The chair declares the result.

  • Secret ballot

When the decision requires it, the record shows that a member voted, never how.

  • Board elections

Members rank the candidates, and the seats are counted by single transferable vote, round by round.

  • Weighted votes

Each ballot carries the votes your register gives the member, and every item is counted by weight.

  • Proxies

The organisation registers each proxy, or lets members appoint their own, and the holder casts every vote they carry from one link.

FAQ

Questions homeowner associations ask

  • Can each owner’s vote count by share or allocation number?

Yes. You give each member a number of votes in the register, for example one per share or the owner’s allocation number, and every item is counted by that weight.

  • Can we hold the general assembly partly in the room and partly online?

Yes. Owners in the room vote on their own phone and owners at home vote from their personal link. It is one count, on one agenda.

  • How do proxies work?

The board registers each proxy before the meeting, or lets owners appoint their own by a deadline it sets. On the day, the holder votes for themselves and for every owner they represent, each with the right weight.

  • Does Assembley decide whether a proposal is adopted?

No. Assembley counts the votes against the requirement you set on the item, such as two thirds, and the chair declares the result. The record shows both.
