Decide

Decide the way your rules say

Choose the rule for each item. Assembley counts the votes by weight as soon as voting closes, and the chair declares the result.

  • Simple majority

    Motions, accounts and budgets, decided by a majority of the votes cast.

  • Qualified majority

    Two thirds or unanimity, set on the item and frozen when the meeting goes live. The chair declares the result.

  • Secret ballot

    When the decision requires it, the record shows that a member voted, never how.

  • Board elections

    Members rank the candidates, and the seats are counted by single transferable vote, round by round.

  • Weighted votes

    Each ballot carries the votes your register gives the member, and every item is counted by weight.

  • Proxies

    The organisation registers each proxy, or lets members appoint their own, and the holder casts every vote they carry from one link.

FAQ

Questions unions ask

  • Can members vote by secret ballot?

    Yes. A secret item records who took part but never what they chose, and it is counted like any other item. Where members hold differing weights, an unusually large holding may in rare cases be inferable from the published totals.

  • Can we run a board election with several seats?

    Yes. Each member ranks as many candidates as they like, and the count runs by single transferable vote until every seat is filled, with each round shown.

  • Can members who are not at the meeting take part?

    Yes. Each member gets a personal link and votes from any phone or laptop, wherever they are, with no account and no password.

  • Can a member see that their vote was received?

    Yes. The ballot confirms each vote as soon as it is recorded, and anyone you share the evidence package with can check it.
