Decide

Decide the way your rules say

Choose the rule for each item. Assembley counts the votes by weight as soon as voting closes, and the chair declares the result.

  • Simple majority

    Motions, accounts and budgets, decided by a majority of the votes cast.

  • Qualified majority

    Two thirds or unanimity, set on the item and frozen when the meeting goes live. The chair declares the result.

  • Secret ballot

    When the decision requires it, the record shows that a member voted, never how.

  • Board elections

    Members rank the candidates, and the seats are counted by single transferable vote, round by round.

  • Weighted votes

    Each ballot carries the votes your register gives the member, and every item is counted by weight.

  • Proxies

    The organisation registers each proxy, or lets members appoint their own, and the holder casts every vote they carry from one link.

FAQ

Questions organisations ask

  • Can we set our own voting rules?

    Yes. Each item gets its own rule (a simple majority, two thirds or unanimity, open or secret), and each voter carries the votes your register gives them.

  • Do voters need an account?

    No. Each voter gets a personal link by email and votes from any phone or laptop, with no password.

  • Can people vote in the room and online at once?

    Yes. People in the room scan a QR code and vote on their own phone, alongside everyone voting from their link. It is one count.

  • What do we have after the vote?

    The minutes, and an evidence package recording each step of the meeting. Anyone you give it to can check it at assembley.co/verify.
